Registered Nurse School Setting - Quincy, MA

Make a difference in the lives of students with complex medical needs as a contract Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) supporting bus transportation during the school year. Key Qualifications:

  • Current, active Massachusetts LPN or RN license required
  • At least 1 year of nursing experience, preferably including pediatrics, school nursing, or supporting individuals with complex health needs
  • Skilled in monitoring, managing, and responding to seizure activity (familiarity with Valtoco PRN), G-tube care, oxygen administration, and allergy response (EpiPen use)
  • Compassionate, patient, and able to ensure the safety and comfort of medically fragile children during transport
  • Reliable and punctual for early morning shifts, with own transportation to the bus pickup location

Responsibilities Include:

  • Accompanying students with significant medical needs on morning bus rides (6:15-7:45 AM, approximately 7.5 hours weekly)
  • Monitoring and managing student health concerns including seizure disorders, epilepsy, diabetes, tracheostomy and G-tube care, oxygen needs, and allergy prevention
  • Communicating clearly with transportation staff and families to ensure a safe, supportive ride
  • Responding promptly and professionally to emergency situations, delivering necessary interventions such as suctioning, oxygen, or rescue medications
  • Completing accurate and thorough documentation of health care provided during transport
