American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVOR RN for a Level I trauma teaching hospital, requiring extensive cardiovascular, vascular, and thoracic surgical scrub experience. Job details: - Acute care hospital setting in the CVOR unit with an average daily census of 10 across 4 rooms/beds - Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, 6:15 AM to 2:45 PM - On-call required 1-2 nights per week and every 5th weekend - Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities - Charting system is Cerner - Scrubs provided for this role Requirements: - Active IL RN license required in hand or in application process - BLS required; ACLS preferred - Minimum 3 years of solid OR experience preferred, with consideration for candidates with trauma or main OR experience - Teaching hospital experience required - Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience preferred - Required skills in cardiovascular procedures including CABG, TAVR, MAZE, mitral valve replacement, IABP, LVAD/RVAD, aortic aneurysm repair, and ECMO - Required skills in vascular procedures including AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy, EVAR, femoral popliteal bypass graft, and vein stripping - Required skills in thoracic procedures including VATS, thoracotomy, mediastinoscopy, and lobe resection - Required skills in endoscopic procedures including bronchoscopy, EGD, and PEG tube placement/exchange - Whipple procedure experience required - Required knowledge of laser safety, specimen handling/labeling, and Universal Protocol (time out) procedures - SSN and DOB required for consideration Additional information: - Scrub for complex cardiovascular, vascular, thoracic, and general surgical procedures - Works within a Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds - Parking permit required but provided at no cost, arranged during orientation - First-time travelers are welcome to apply - Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler - RTO requests ideally limited to no more than 5 days - Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays - OR RN candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
