Overview Under general supervision, to perform work providing support of the primary care provider and team by providing patient care and assisting with procedures, patient care follow-up, and maintenance of patient flow. Position Summary: Performs clinical duties in physician practices under the direction of the practice manager and physicians. Responsible for rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs, administering injections and medications, performing EKGs and other point of care testing and treatments, triaging phone calls and electronic messages, and performing check out duties. Responsible for promoting teamwork with all members of the healthcare team. Performs duties in a manner consistent with St. Luke’s mission and values. The Medical Assistant receives patients at the time of visit and supports the physicians and other clinical staff in the delivery of health care to patients by performing a variety of medically-related tasks to ensure smooth patient flow. Key responsibilities include reception duties, administrative and clerical support, and assistance with patient procedures. Greets and registers patients, completes forms, collects and enters patient demographic and billing information, prepares charts, reviews fee slips, maintains office filing system, updates electronic medical records as appropriate and collects payments in accordance with cash handling policies and procedures.
