Medical Assistant Allergy and Immunology

Corewell Health is offering a $3,000 sign-on bonus for this opportunity! Sign-On Bonus for External applicants or current CHW MA Apprentice Students only About the Unit Allergy & Immunology is an outpatient specialty department located at 3271 Clear Vista Ct. Grand Rapids, MI 49525. This is our primary location where we see a mix of adult and pediatric patients Monday through Friday, 7am – 5pm. Most pediatric patients are seen at the 35 Michigan HDVCH Allergy office. The providers split their time between the adult, Clear Vista location and the HDVCH office. There is currently one physician and one physician assistant that see patients at the Grand Haven Center in Grand Haven, MI 4 days/week. The main diagnosis we see in clinic are environmental, food, and drug allergies along with asthma, chronic hives, and immune deficient problems. We have a growing team of providers, nurses, medical assistants, and ambulatory care technicians. This MA would work in tandem with our nurses and providers to support our patients clinically. The MA will assist with patient rooming, allergy testing, allergy immunotherapy injections, vaccine administration, spirometry along with chart prepping, phone calls, patient messages, faxes, medication authorizations, and quality assurance tasks. There is an expectation, though very rare, that travel to the Grand Haven location would occur if there were staffing needs however, we currently have clinical team members that primarily support the Grand Haven clinic. An exciting highlight of our department is that Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is a nationally accredited cystic fibrosis care center, leading the most current cystic fibrosis specialty research as a Therapeutic Development Network Center designated by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This means we bring cutting-edge research and new therapies directly to our local cystic fibrosis community. Additionally, we offer the only pediatric sleep program in West Michigan, flexible bronchoscopy to examine and treat complex airway problems, and a special breathing test tailored for young children or those with special needs. For technology-dependent children, we provide a pediatric home ventilator clinic. We also take pride in having the only pediatric pulmonary function testing lab in West Michigan. The role of the MA is crucial in supporting the provider team and the clinic. They are responsible for rooming patients, facilitating patient flow in the clinic, handling patient checkouts and scheduling follow-up appointments in the exam room, administering vaccines, preparing charts, and performing additional administrative tasks.
