The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to the following: Locating patients, obtaining accurate vital signs by visual and auditory measures, triaging patients, assessing patients’ medical condition, and preparing patients for physicals and medical treatment by Physicians and Nurses; Understanding and using the electronic medical record system; Ordering lab, x-ray, and medical supplies as directed; Notifying the Nurse and/or Physician when the patient is ready for exam while communicating symptoms and relaying questions about lab or x-ray needs; Assisting Nurses and Physicians with various forms of patient treatment and care; Handling Physician and Nurse requests with respect and in a timely manner; Performing lab duties as assigned; Performing phlebotomy procedures; Sterilizing and setting up instruments; Receiving and storing supplies; restocking treatment rooms as needed; Reporting to the Charge Nurse before leaving at the end of the shift; Following ancillary guidelines as deemed necessary by the Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, DMS, and Physician; Adhering to established policies and procedures; Maintaining cleanliness of the treatment area and completing biological cleanup in accordance with OSHA guidelines and other maintenance assignments as directed; Washing, drying, folding, and restocking laundry; maintaining the cleanliness of the washing machine and dryer lint trap; Attending staff meetings as scheduled by the Nurse Supervisor or DMS; Operating, using, and maintaining medical and office equipment as trained; Completing assigned checklists and Policy Manager tasks within the assigned shift; Being available to assist as needed, as breaks and mealtimes may be interrupted at any time to provide necessary patient care or to maintain center operations; Fostering teamwork and ensuring a positive and professional atmosphere; Providing positive, warm, and friendly service in all interactions; Understanding and performing all duties as assigned. Minimum education and professional requirements include, but are not limited to, the following: Must be 18 years of age or older; Minimum typing experience; High school graduate or equivalent; Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a hospital or physician’s office preferred; Ability to hear pages, bells, and phone system; Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time (possibly 4 to 7 hours at a time); Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; Ability to attend scheduled CPR classes and code drills; Ability to prioritize and multitask; Willingness to work at any center due to a staffing or center emergency or reduction of work.

Performs related clerical tasks including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and providing information to other departments. Assists in obtaining insurance prior authorizations. Job Description Assists in examination and treatment of patients under direction of physician. Responsibilities Maintains patient flow during clinic hours. Documents review of systems; measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respirations, blood pressure, weight and height (see Appendix A for specifics); updates past and current medical, social and family history; reviews medications and updates medication list at each visit. Correctly records patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR). May assist in training of new employees. Prepares patient charts in EMR for visits by scanning, abstracting, and reviewing to make certain that all diagnostic test results, hospital reports and other medical records necessary to help the physician care for the patient are in the patient’s chart. Accesses and navigates websites or calls outside facilities to obtain necessary information. May act as Super User for Electronic Medical Record. Refills medications and pre-authorizes medications including communicating with the patient, pharmacy, or insurance company as needed to complete the task. Maintains recording of patient samples and other medications and disposes expired medications. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients; maintains clean, fully supplied exam rooms. Orders medical supplies as needed. Completes patient assistance paperwork/requests as needed. Obtains pertinent medical information from patients to facilitate medical decision making per specific office protocol procedures. Returns calls as needed. Responds to MyChart as needed. Works in-baskets, daily work flow logs, and work queues in EMR/Practice Management system. May coordinate/oversee work queues in office. Answers incoming calls, schedules appointments, checks-in and out patients, and completes pre-certifications for prescriptions, procedures, and surgeries as needed. Operates EKG, cardiac monitors, and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests as needed and other clinical duties such as phlebotomy and cast removal as assigned. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. Maintains patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential. Understands and adheres to the legal responsibilities and requirements with the medical assistant role. Demonstrates comprehension and support of quality measures and patient experience. Ability and willingness to travel to other physician offices as requested or needed. Complementary clinical skills such as phlebotomy, performing EKGs, stiches removal, splinting, etc. are highly preferred. LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS Certified/Registered MA preferred.
