The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $24.01 – $36.01. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. Job Summary Assists professional nursing personnel in providing quality, compassionate patient care by performing tasks involving direct and indirect patient care, using skills and knowledge in basic nursing assistant procedures and techniques under direction and supervision of a registered nurse. What you will do: Assists in providing direct patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse within the scope of the CNA licensure. Perform basic technical skills which may include, CPR; taking and recording vital signs; measuring and recording fluid intake/output; applying dressings; recognizing and reporting signs and symptoms of common diseases or conditions; administering treatments as directed by a physician or nurse. Assists patient with personal care which may include bathing; mouth and skin care; grooming and dressing; toileting assistance; eating and hydration. Provides patients with help walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed. Maintains unit supplies by stocking patient rooms and supply areas to meet patient care needs. Documents relevant patient care data. Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures. Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts). Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally. Ability to move around area with frequent sitting. Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently. Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently. Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles. Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment. Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted). Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information. Collaborates with case manager or professional staff in the revision and implementation of the Home Health Aide plan of care. On an Average Day You Will: (includes but not limited to) Perform personal care needs after given a patient's assignment and attend to his/her requests promptly; if unable to perform a certain task, report to the Case Manager immediately Provide patient and family with positive communication techniques, within realm of ethical and respectful care, including confidentiality Meet safety needs of patient and use equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, O2 etc.) Provide personal care including baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos and changing bed linen as often as assigned Assist in dressing and undressing patients, as assigned Plan and prepare nutritious meals, including shopping, as assigned Assist in feeding the patient, as assigned Take and record oral, rectal and auxiliary temperatures, pulse, respiration and blood pressure when ordered with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency Provide proper care and observation of patient's skin to prevent breakdown of tissue over bony prominence Assess and report on patient's condition and significant changes to the Case Manager; also, being aware of the caregiver or other individuals living with the patient and interpersonal issues Assist in ambulation and exercise as instructed by the hospice nurse or therapist Provide normal range of motion and transfers/positioning, as directed Assist with self-administered medications as allowed by state regulations, such as “reminders” Offer and assist with bedpan and urinal aid, as assigned Aid with light laundry needs if necessary Perform range of motion and other simple procedures as an extensional therapy service, as ordered with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency Provide respite for patient's family/caregiver when on-site, as appropriate Maintain patient's living area is clean and orderly, as assigned Adhere to the organization's documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct Participate in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities Respect patient and family/caregiver environment and patient's personal needs All other duties as assigned Requirements: Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant ( applicable for all States, additional requirements for California residents, see below). CALIFORNIA REGULATION : Must be a CNA in good standing AND must have a current Home Health Aide (HHA) certification in good standing in the State of California.
