Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Will be required to provide nursing coverage and perform nursing tasks in medical sites in St. Lawrence County as necessary to maintain nursing minimums. When the position is not required to provide nursing coverage and perform nursing tasks to maintain nursing minimums, will be required to float between medical sites within St. Lawrence County to assist LPNs and RNs on duty as needed. As a Registered Nurse 1 on an assigned shift, you will provide professional nursing services appropriate to individuals served by the program to which you are assigned. Services may include, but are not limited to, nursing interventions and their documentation, case finding, health teaching/counseling and provision of supportive and/or restorative care. You will also participate in staff training, prepare clinical and administrative reports, maintain infection control standards, and function as a member of a treatment team. In addition, you may provide supervision to subordinate professional, paraprofessional, and support staff in the performance of their patient/resident care duties and be responsible for maintaining inventory standards for medicine, controlled drugs, and narcotics. Additional Comments This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status.
