Turns patient intermittently if patient is bedridden due to illness. Documents and/or reports information regarding the patients’ health, I&O, any change of medical condition, and care given. Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers as requested. Understands and utilizes care plans. Identifies the four basic food groups on a sample breakfast, lunch and dinner meal. Applies & releases restraints and provides exercise. Practices proper body mechanics while moving/transferring patients. Provides range of motion exercises for patients. Recognizes and reports signs/symptoms of abuse and/or change in condition. Properly documents in accordance with established guidelines. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Communicates well with other associates, patients, family members, and visitors providing warm and friendly greeting and an approachable attitude. Nurse Assistant

Position Summary: Provides health care for patients under the direction of a nurse. Assists patients under their care with day-to-day tasks, playing a vital support role. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Answers patient calls and determines how best to help them. Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising. Turns and repositions bedridden patients. Ensures patients receive appropriate diet by reviewing their dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences. Provides encouragement and support with eating. Obtains and uses a wide range of information from physicians, caregivers and nurses about patient condition, treatment plans, and suggested activities to provide appropriate patient care. Measures and records food and liquid intake and urinary and fecal output and reporting changes to medical or nursing staff. Records vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate as requested by staff or as ordered. Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Nurse Assistant Certification program or equivalent experience. One month of job-related experience and/or training. BLS certification Preferred: One year of experience in a medical setting.
