Monitors residents’ physical and emotional well-being, promptly reporting any changes to the licensed nursing staff to support proactive and personalized care. Our second floor unit includes an Orthopedic Center for Excellence with a 24 bed unit focusing on for total hip, shoulder and knee replacements patients and cares for orthopedic fractures. We also serve a small medical population. Our three south unit includes an 11 bed unit with medical patients and general surgical patients. These patients include: sepsis, cardiac, stroke, renal, CHF, COPD, respiratory illnesses. The surgical population includes appendectomy, small bowel obstructions and various other surgeries. The Medical Surgical Unit at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital is focused on the needs of the patient and helping one another to meet those needs. Our patient management on both units may include telemetry monitoring, continuous medication infusions, wounds, varieties of tubes and drains. There are approximately 60 staff members that include experienced and newer staff including, CNA’s, RN’s, and Unit Clerks. In this position, you will provide essential support to registered nurses by providing high-quality patient care to post op orthopedic patients. Your role includes encouraging early, frequent mobilization, assisting with activities of daily living, providing emotional support, and ensuring patient safety throughout their journey to recovery. Licensure: Registered with the State of Nebraska as CNA required. Certification : Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Experience : Prior Nurse Assistant experience preferred. 1+ year customer service work in a health care setting preferred. Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred and the ability to demonstrate effective communication skills. Maintain patient medical records by following correct procedures to ensure accurate and timely availability of patient information.
