He/she directs, plans, and coordinates service activities of professional Nursing and auxiliary Nursing personnel in rendering customer care. The Director of Nursing interprets Center policies and regulations to all Nursing personnel and ensures compliance, as well as analyzes and evaluates Nursing and related services rendered to improve quality of customer care and to better utilize staff time and abilities. The Director of Nursing also ensures the provision of in-service training programs for nursing personnel. DON Responsibilities Participates in the development and/or the implementation of philosophy, objectives, policies, and standards of Nursing practice in accordance with the goals of the organization Maintains adequate Nursing coverage to provide safe Nursing care for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assure that all customers are treated fairly, with compassion, dignity, and respect Works with the Administrator to develop, allocate and control the budget for the Department of Nursing Services Collects and analyzes clinical data from internal and external sources for Quality Assurance measures.
