Clinical Manager RN Pediatric Intensive Care Unit PICU

Job Overview The Clinical Manager oversees the daily operations of a direct patient care department, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and quality standards. This role provides clinical leadership, guiding staff in delivering developmentally appropriate care and evaluating outcomes. The Clinical Manager supports quality and safety initiatives, contributes to organizational goals, and drives improvements in healthcare performance and patient experience. In collaboration with other healthcare leaders, the Clinical Manager fosters professional development, coaches for performance, and cultivates a positive environment for both team members and patients/families. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides care for children with life-threatening illnesses and/or injuries as well as those who are at serious risk for life threatening complications. We care for children from birth to 21 years of age. Patients treated here are experiencing multi-organ system failure, acute and chronic pulmonary conditions, meningitis, septic shock, near drowning, diabetic ketoacidosis, renal and/or hepatic failure, oncology/bone marrow transplant or airway management, among other diagnoses. Major diagnostic categories include respiratory, neurologic, injury/poisoning, trauma, oncological and infectious disease. The PICU also provides care for patients receiving solid organ transplants as well as neurosurgical, burn, orthopedic, ENT, and general pediatric surgical patients. Patients in the PICU are cared for by a multidisciplinary team including Pediatric Intensivists, RNs, support staff, and dedicated PICU Respiratory Therapists, Pharmacists, Nutritionists, Social Workers and Child Life Specialists. We provide family centered care by identifying and addressing the needs of the patient and family throughout their hospitalization. Oversees staff and financial resource allocation, adjusting as needed to meet patient care demands while maintaining budget compliance. Establishes department performance metrics and collaborates with Associate Clinical Managers to achieve clinical, operational, and developmental goals. Identifies and acts on opportunities for continuous improvement. Resolves escalated, complex, or sensitive patient/family issues and operational concerns, making inclusive, data-informed decisions that address root causes. Interprets and enforces quality and safety standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and promote best practices. Leads and supports a culture of clinical inquiry by mentoring team members on practice-based research and quality improvement projects. Represents the department in senior leadership and interdepartmental meetings, fostering collaboration across teams and participating in organizational committees. Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION – Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master’s in health related field required. EXPERIENCE - Three years of clinical experience and two years of nursing leadership experience in supervision (such as ACM), leading clinical practice projects, serving as a charge nurse or house supervisor, and/or precepting. Previous PICU experience is strongly preferred. LICENCURES/CERTIFICATION(S) – Registered Nurse (RN) License BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire. American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or Magnet recognized Certification. Salary Information Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Radiation Oncology Nurse Practitioner

Job Description UCSF nurse practitioners (NPs) are advanced practice providers (APPs) who possess the education, national board certification, California licensure, knowledge, clinical skills, and experience necessary to provide evidence-based patient care in their area of clinical practice. They provide routine, acute, critical, and specialty care as defined by their granted privileges/standardized procedures. These may include performing non-invasive or invasive procedures and operative first assist. The NPII will work as part of a Team at the Parnassus location within the UCSF Department of Radiation Oncology in a multidisciplinary environment working with Radiation Oncologists, Residents, Registered Nurses, Medical Physicists, Radiation Therapists, Dieticians, and Social Workers in collaboration with referring medical oncologists and surgeons. The NPII reports to and is managed by an APP Manager while working under the supervision of Faculty/Attending Providers. The patient populations may vary but will focus primarily on Solid Tumor cancers. The incumbent will provide care to patients including taking histories; conducting physical exams; document findings and actions as indicated, complex wound care within the department and assist with planning of the course of patients’ treatments for adult populations. The NPII will perform site-specific patient teaching; prepare patients for simulation; may assist with contouring structures for treatment planning; medicate patients as needed; order medications for symptom relief; assist in managing patients in follow-up; and address quality of life issues not limited to skin/wound care, speech/swallowing, adequate nutritional intake; and psycho-social issues. In addition, the NPII will answer patient phone calls, emails, My Chart messages, questions and perform other duties as required such as attending tumor boards, participate in department, and medical center committees as needed. Other duties may include developing patient education materials; staff development; training; teaching; outreach; assisting with research; analyzing or collecting data; and assisting other service teams in providing care to patients in the department as needed.
