Assit under the direction of the primary operating surgeon in the perioperative care of the patients undergoing a surgical experience. The RNFA is an expanded role of the registered nurse and is accountable for exemplifying leadership and professionalism in the implementation of the role. This position is represented by CNA. Accurately administers and charts medications according to hospital policies and procedures using patient’s 6 rights. Implements and /or assists others in implementation and documentation of planned education. Assesses patient’s educational needs. Demonstrates intraoperative competency as an RNFA: manual dexterity, suturing and litigating, providing hemostasis, exposing the surgical site, position, prepping and draping. Assist in the development and education of new staff members. Attends and participates in staff meetings. Completes education, training, and competencies for department specific skills. Successfully adapts to changes in the unit, environment, and work flow. Assures all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly. Utilizes department resources appropriately.
