The purpose of your job position is to provide each resident with routine daily nursing care in accordance with the residents assessment plan, with current federal, state and local standards and regulations that govern the facility, and as directed by your supervisors. Department Overview The Allergy and Immunologic (AI) Clinic evaluates and treats patients with a variety of allergic conditions which include: asthma, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, rashes, food allergy, drug hypersensitivity, and bee sting allergy. AI also cares for patients with: immune deficiencies, frequent infections, and inflammatory diseases of other types. Supports the nursing duties and follows the nursing process. Clinical duties include managing patient flow, obtaining vital signs, review health maintenance status, immunizations, monitoring and maintaining exam room supplies, enter and review patient information in the electronic medical record (Apex) as appropriate and assist with emergencies as outlined in the department Emergency Manual. The Licensed Vocational Nurse supports administrative functions as required that includes but not limited to patient registration, verifying patient health insurance, appointment scheduling, telephone reception, insurance authorization management, new patient coordination, and copay collection. Successfully completes all appropriate competencies to perform or assist with procedures as required for the department specialty and determined by the Clinical Manager—which may include but not limited to: Allergy Injections Allergy skin prick testing Administration of oral challenges Vaccine administration Acts as a chaperone as needed for medical providers Transports patients as directed to ensure their safety Monitors patient flow in and out of the clinic. Familiarity with the process of prior authorizations to obtain specialty medications. Must have worked in a medical team consisting of several providers and an administrative assistant, knowing in-basket management, assisting with medication refills, coordinating services, and scheduling appointments and procedures Strong computer skills and use of Microsoft Office. Ability to prioritize work efficiently and independently, demonstrating strong self-initiative Excellent communication with patients and all levels of personnel with excellent writing skills. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to use electronic medical records. This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations. Graduated from an accredited vocational nursing program with a certificate.
