Location: UTower CORE JOB SUMMARY The Associate Nurse Manager, Inpatient plans, oversees, and directs patient care assuring standards of quality, service and safety are met within the philosophy and objectives of the University of Miami Hospitals and Clinics. Assists in developing roles and responsibilities of all direct reports by fostering a culture of talent management & development within area of specialty. 7. Works with leaders to identify, develop & retain high potential employees by actively engaging them through delegation, stretch assignments, supervision & educational programs. 8. Encourages nursing staff to advance through the Professional Development program. 9. Monitors productivity and flexes appropriately and meets or exceeds financial targets. 10. Works to improve employee engagement through collaboration; holds staff accountable, meets one-on-one with staff, and acknowledges team members for great performance. 11. Participates in and initiates the corrective action process when necessary and ensures that policies are fairly and consistently followed and enforced. 12. Demonstrates active support of the hospital Process Improvement (PI) philosophies and aligns departmental goals to support PI initiatives. 13. Works closely with Direct or Indirect leaders in developing quality improvement/PI processes to assure safe, quality patient outcomes and implements Evidence-Based Best Practices and is actively involved in at least one policy or process improvement committee. 14. Consistently rounds on patients, monitors bedside handoff, and assures responsiveness of staff to call lights. 15. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures. The Nurse Supervisor provides supervision of staff and will safeguard the health, safety and welfare of all Residents/residents under their care by following applicable laws, regulations, and established nursing policies and procedures. Essential Functions 1. Provides quality nursing care to Residents/residents in an environment that promotes their rights, dignity and freedom of choice. 2. Provides supervision to C.N.A’s and all subordinate staff which includes checking their work to ascertain that assignments have been completed. 3. Supervises direct care of residents and nursing personnel on his/her shift. 4. Gives and receives shift reports. 5. Rounds the unit multiple times during the shift to assure proper care is rendered in a safe and clean environment. 6. Keeps physicians and families aware of changes in resident’s condition. 7. Assists in developing comprehensive care plans. 8. Completes medical records documenting care provided and other information in accordance with nursing policies while maintaining strict confidentiality. 9. Assure that established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained when providing care. Follow established safety precautions when preforming tasks and using equipment and supplies. 11. Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of Residents/residents and interacts with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment. 12. Answer and respond to call lights promptly and courteously. 13. Assist with new admissions, re-admissions and assist with the transfer of Residents to different rooms within the facility. 14. Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with Residents/residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors. 15. Attend and participate in departmental meetings and in-services as directed. Supervisory Responsibility This position has direct supervisor responsibilities for Certified Nurse Aides and other personnel assigned. Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate from and accredited nursing program. Current State License as a RN. C.P.R. Certified Preferred Education and Experience · One year experience as a nurse in a long-term care setting.
