Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters. Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served. Qualifications Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups. Required Education: Associate's Degree Specific course work: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. New hires effective June 14, 2017, must have a BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position. New hires or transfers into in the position between August 1, 2013 and June 13, 2017 must abide with the conditions in his or her offer letter and the verbiage in the job description signed upon hire or transfer into the position. Job Overview The full-time nurse practitioner will provide mental health treatment to children and adolescents in the outpatient behavioral health clinic. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for performing duties independently following established and standardized procedures and methods referring questionable situations to physicians. The NP provides primary health care through assessment, diagnosis, clinical judgment, and management to restore, maintain, and improve the health status of patients. Requirements A Master’s degree in Psychiatric Nursing RN license APN License PMHNP Certification CDS and DEA CPR certification ACLS and BLS Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center 2+ years of APP experience working in a psychiatric setting, managing mental illness and substance abuse disorders Shift M-F 8:30-4:30p Essential Functions Performs evaluation, treatment, and educational functions. Billing for patient services based on CMS and NJ State Board Regulations. Demonstrates satisfactory knowledge and judgment to provide appropriate care for patients. Develops plan of care for patients in coordination with multidisciplinary team and completes appropriate reports to primary care physicians and family. Documents and maintains patient records of services provided according to facility and nursing standards. Establishes a collaborative relationship with other medical providers. Interviews, instructs and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Issues psychotropic prescriptions to patients based on Federal & State Regulations. Orders and reviews appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Reviews all lab data and documents. Performs and obtains a completed medical history and physical data on patients with appropriate documentation and findings. Responsible for coordinating nursing and training programs on compliant for policies such as HIPPA, OSHA, Code of Conduct. Responsible for maintaining the quality and adequacy of nursing practice. Reviews and audits charts routinely.
