The Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who uses the BSWH nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery by the health care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response. The RN promotes safe passage for their patients by using knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to health care personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition and the competencies of the employee ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE Clinical Judgment: Using clinical reasoning, conducts accurate clinical assessments according to practice standards. Description Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility. Complete and file required recordkeeping forms/charts upon the resident’s admission, transfer, and/or discharge. Encourage attending physicians to review treatment plans, record and sign their orders, progress notes, etc., in accordance with established policies. Receive telephone orders from physicians and record on the Physicians’ Order Form. Transcribe physician’s orders to resident charts, cardex, medication cards, treatment/care plans, as required. Chart nurses’ notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided to the resident, as well as the resident’s response to the care. Inform nursing personnel of new admissions, their expected time of arrival, room assignment, etc. Must participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as requested. Must perform nursing administrative functions as outlined in the job description. Must be able to thoroughly chart and document by completing and filing required recordkeeping forms/charts upon the resident’s admission, transfer and or discharge. Participate in the orientation of new residents/family members to the facility. Make rounds with physicians as necessary. Ensure that an adequate supply of floor stock medications, supplies, and equipment is on hand to meet the nursing needs of the residents. Report needs to the Nurse Supervisor. Administer professional services such as; catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy, and drainage bags, taking blood, giving massages and range of motion exercises, care for the dead/dying, etc., as required. Collects samples, such as urine, blood, and sputum, from patients for testing and performs routine laboratory tests on samples. Take and record TPRs, blood pressures, etc., as necessary. Check foods brought into the facility by the resident’s family/visitors to ensure that it is within the resident’s dietary allowances. Report problem areas to the Nurse Supervisor and Dietary Supervisor. Provides health care instruction to patient and family members. Must maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information; and adhere to Resident’s rights. Performs other work related duties as assigned or requested. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient's involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization, The clinic nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement , the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost effective care. Position Summary The Clinic Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Clinic Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model. Minimum Qualifications Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program required. Current Ohio license or interim permit. *Experience in relevant care setting preferred.
