Will be responsible for identifying the need for further assessment based on the patient’s clinical presentation/diagnosis and tolerance of diagnostic testing/scheduled procedure. Essential Job Duties: The Cardiac Cath RN is responsible for performing initial assessment appropriate to the patient’s clinical presentation. Responsible for pre-screening patient lab work, mobility, allergies and medication history prior to invasive diagnostic testing/procedures. The RN is responsible for appropriately notifying physician if schedule invasive test or procedure is impacted by assessment. Performs interventions identified specific to the patient’s individual needs to ensure safe, successful invasive diagnostic testing/ procedure. Documents nursing intervention and patient teaching, responsible for plan of discharge or transfer.
