The Direct Care Worker is responsible for all aspects of the client’s care. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, activities of daily living, program implementation, behavioral monitoring, community functions, and all required documentation. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Provides client’s personal hygiene by giving or helping with showers or baths; assisting with bedpans, urinals; providing backrubs, shampoos, and shaves; and assisting clients to the bathroom. Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding clients as necessary, and assisting clients with ambulating, turning, and positioning. Promotes client comfort by utilizing resources and materials. Provide and maintain a safe environment for the client by using equipment safely and properly, such as footstools, etc. Practices standard precautions in all contacts with clients. Protects the organization's value by keeping client information confidential. Serves and protects Faithful Home Care Solutions by adhering to professional standards, agency policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements. Performs support activities as prescribed in the care plan, including but not limited to supporting independence, providing companionship, and providing respite for families. Documents care provided and response of client/family to care, and submits documentation in a timely manner in accordance with agency policies. Enhances Faithful Home Care Solutions’ reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Ensures the quality and safe delivery of personal services to the clients while also supporting their families and Direct Care Workers. Works in cooperation with family/Direct Care Worker/and other home care staff to meet the emotional needs of the client/family/Direct Care Worker. Performs all duties as assigned. HUMAN RELATIONS Must maintain a professional attitude and demeanor and be able to communicate effectively and relate courteously and cooperatively with clients, family members, colleagues, supervisor, co-workers, and all others. Must be able to demonstrate optimism, enthusiasm, and willingness to work constructively with other home care team members and reflect concern for the well-being of clients and others. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Able to frequently sit, stand, bend, lift, carry, push, and pull (minimum 50 lbs.) with or without reasonable accommodations to perform the essential responsibilities of the position.
