Akron General’s 52B Orthopaedic/Surgical Unit specializes in post-surgical medical services for various procedures, including knee and hip replacements and shoulder, ankle and spinal surgeries. Patients in this unit require immediate and frequent mobilization to minimize their hospital length of stay and post-surgical complications. As RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in ensuring every patient has the best treatment experience possible. A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., including every other weekend and 3 holidays per year. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs. Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach. Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability). Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk. Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
