Registered Nurse- Neuro ICU Day/Night

Trauma and Emergency General Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Position Overview: The Trauma and Emergency General Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) delivers direct patient care consistent with the APP’s education, experience, and certification, in collaboration with the attending Trauma and Emergency General Surgery physicians. This includes the diagnosis, management, and referral of health care issues specific to Trauma and Emergency General Surgery (EGS). The APP will complete pre- and post-surgical management and recognize options for non-surgical management of trauma, EGS, and critically ill patients. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with Trauma/EGS attending physicians, general surgery residents, and APPs to complete daily rounds on the trauma and surgical floors and in the intensive care unit (ICU). Respond to Emergency Department (ED) consults for EGS, collecting data and interpreting laboratory and imaging results to develop and document assessments and care plans. Perform bedside procedures for both surgical and non-surgical patients Work with the team to complete timely documentation and carry out care plans effectively. Partner with Trauma/EGS APPs, Trauma/EGS attendings, surgical residents, nursing, physical, occupational and speech therapies, social work and case management to develop disposition plans with a multidisciplinary team approach. Respond to trauma cases in the resuscitation bay, perform trauma survey assessments, and stabilize high-acuity patients in accordance with Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) guidelines. Promote consumer, family, and community health through preventative health care actions and patient advocacy. Provide pre-, intra-, and post-operative care, including periodically serving as a surgical first assistant during Trauma and EGS cases. Meets one of the following: Completion of a Medical Assistant program and has work experience in a Medical Assisting or acute patient care capacity, which includes school-sponsored externships. Completion of a Medical Assisting-comparable military educational program for medics/hospital corpsman with an honorable discharge (if applicable). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for the American Heart Association (AHA) or obtains within 90 days of hire. Knowledge of basic medical procedures and medical terminology. Possesses critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work in a stressful environment and exercise sound judgment, as well as organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment with multiple providers. Basic computer and data entry skills. Able to work in assigned area(s) and any other clinic based on operational needs. Preferred Qualifications 6 months of clerical experience and experience related to patient care. Active certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcare Association (NHA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through the American Medical Technologists (AMT). Possesses one of the following: 1 year of work experience in medical billing, patient registration, and/or patient scheduling. Education related to medical billing, patient registration, and/or patient scheduling from an accredited institution. Physical Requirements May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Ability to lift 250-300 pounds with assistance. Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Requires some exposure to chemicals and cleaning products.
