Nurse Unit Manager *** $5,000 Bonus*** Nurse Unit Manager Alliance Health at Baldwinville is a 94-bed skilled nursing facility with an exciting opportunity for an experienced Nurse to join our management team as the Nurse Unit Manager. We are looking for someone who is compassionate and can effectively communicate with residents, families, visitors, co-workers, physicians, and other employees. Ability to consistently demonstrate accountability, responsibility, and dependability. Able to communicate daily with nursing personnel providing clear, concise information, exercising independent judgment and critical thinking. Ability and willingness to work well with staff and to function as part of a team. · Works five days per week as designated. As needed, provides administrative supervision for the facility during weekend or for holiday coverage. · Ensures staffing to meet patient/resident needs · Develops assignments and schedules that combine the needs of the patients/residents with the capabilities of the staff. · Ensures response to unanticipated patient/resident needs. · Assists the scheduler in preparing monthly 24-hour nursing schedule for unit. Assure minimum staffing on unit and report all staffing problems to Director of Nursing Services. · Presents as a role model and acts to facilitate and develop the Modified Primary/ Team Nursing Model. · Coordinates nursing services with other resident care activities/services. Serves as clinical advisor in planning, implementing, and evaluating resident care. · Oversees accuracy and timeliness of all nursing documentation. Direct and organize required Medicare and Medicaid documentation. · Coordinates and participates in the orientation, education and evaluation of personnel as needed in cooperation with the Coordinator of Education and Infection Control. · Review the performance of and establish performance agreements with the nurses and the nursing assistants per facility policy. · Serves as liaison between nursing staff on unit and other departments. Interprets Human Resource policy as needed for the nursing staff. · Participates in interviews and hiring decisions of nursing staff for unit. · Ensures that nursing/medical supply needs for the units are met. · Assumes direct patient/resident care responsibilities as needed. · Administer Mantoux test to patients/residents on unit. · Administer Mantoux test to staff members as requested by the Coordinator of Education and Infection Control. · Performs PI monitoring activities as established by Nursing Department and PI Council. Ability to direct and implement promotion of PI concepts. · Make daily nursing rounds on all patients/residents of unit. Communicates with LPN Nurse Managers and makes daily rounds of their units. Make rounds with Physicians as possible. · Participate in Interdisciplinary meetings, resident/patient family conferences, discharge planning, and other meetings as needed. · Ensures that incident reports from resident/patient, staff and visitors are accurately completed and filed timely with administration. · Edit monthly physician orders/MAR/Treatment records with Staff Nurses. · Assists in maintaining safety and cleanliness of the work area. · Provides input in the formation and evaluation of standards of care. · Provides resident/patient and family teaching as needed.
