Job Details The Neurology Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive clinical support to faculty within the Jefferson Cognitive Neurology Division, focusing on the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of outpatient populations with cognitive neurological disorders. This role works collaboratively with attending physicians and interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care, while practicing within the legal scope of licensure. In addition, the NP provides consultation services for neurology patients presenting with psychiatric or behavioral syndromes, functioning as part of a specialized “memory clinic” model of care. Overview The Trauma/Surgical ICU (TSICU) is a 28-bed critical care unit specializing in caring for traumatically injured patients or those undergoing complex surgeries requiring close monitoring and care. Patients are admitted directly from the ED, the Ross Trauma Admitting Area, or the operating room. Patients usually cared for in this area include those with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, rib fractures, and lung injuries, as well as diverse orthopedic injuries requiring frequent monitoring and care. Many patients cared for in the TSICU are poly-trauma patients, with injuries involving more than one body system. Common surgical patients include those undergoing Whipple procedures, esophagectomies, gastrostomies, and abdominal aortic aneurysms. The unit is staffed with registered nurses, critical care technicians, trauma surgery nurse practitioners, resident physicians, and attending trauma surgeons. Staff also work closely with respiratory therapists and specialized surgical groups such as orthopedics and neurosurgery.
