Job Description Our growing General Surgery practice at Saint Luke's East is looking to hire additional advanced practice provider to cover weekend inpatient rounding. This person will round on inpatients at our East location Friday afternoon, the Saturdays and Sundays. Responsibilities of the APP: Deliver comprehensive care to new and established patients, including (but not limited to): inquiring about the patient’s history, performing a physical examination, documenting, ordering diagnostic testing, treating, and charging appropriately. Prescribing drugs within the scope of practice. Performing or assisting in the performance of procedures that are documented on the CPA, and consistent with the education, training, and experience of both the APP and their collaborating physician. First assisting in surgery (if deemed necessary and if APRN has completed first assist certification) Providing education to the patient and/or their caregivers. Referring patients to other specialties as needed. If prescriptive authority for controlled medications is determined necessary by the collaborating physician based on clinic needs, it is the responsibility of the APP to maintain all requirements for their DEA and BNDD. They are also responsible for maintaining the correct DEA information in the CPA and notifying their APP manager and collaborating physician of any concerns. All controlled medication prescriptions should be limited and appropriate for the diagnose(s). Participate in employer sponsored or affiliated activities and pursuing continuing education to maintain proficiency. Follow CME reimbursement guidelines and enter expense reports in Workday. Serve as a consultant to staff on clinical and technical matters, as well as managing difficult patient circumstances.
