Toileting and/or incontinent care is provided according to the facilities policies and procedures. 4. Encourage resident to participate in active ROM when possible and perform passive ROM according to the facility policies and procedures. 5. Residents are assisted before, during, and after meals by placing residents in an upright position, ensuring teeth are in, glasses are on, setting up food in front of resident checking that resident has correct meal, at correct consistency and using Thickener if required. Give resident as much assistance as required (cut meat, open containers) encourage the resident to eat and/or feeds resident as indicated on the assignment sheet. Record resident's intake and repost to nurse if resident's intake is low meal is refused, etc. 3. CLINICAL DUTIES CONTINUED: 6. Transfers residents according to method indicated on assignment sheet. Follows policies and procedure on body mechanics and use of resident lifts. Notify nurse if in doubt of resident's capabilities or questions about transfer method to be used. 7. Ambulates residents as directed by assignment sheet, Charge Nurse or Physical Therapy. 8. Obtains the resident's vital signs and weight according to shift routine or as directed by Charge Nurse. 9. Collects specimens of urine, stool, and sputum as directed by the Charge Nurse. 12. Assists in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management by performing selected clinical and administrative duties. Duties And Responsibilities Assists provider in preparing for physicals and minor surgeries. Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Takes patient histories and vital signs, performs phlebotomy and EKG as needed. Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments. Assists with ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment, including sterilization of instruments. Assists with scheduling of tests and treatments and follows through with referrals when indicated. Screens telephone calls for referral to nurse or provider. Maintains patient files, records and other information according to office standards. Implements provider orders under provider direction and notifies patients of results as requested. Remains updated and current on the electronic health record policies and procedures. Attends required meetings and participates in committees and professional development activities. Maintains professional affiliations. Scribe to include: history of present illness, review of systems, physical exam findings, diagnostic assessment and plan of care. Maintains patient and office confidentiality. Performs related work as required. Supervision Received Reports directly to the Practice Manager Typical Physical Demands Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves frequent standing and walking. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 20 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to bodily fluids. Requires the ability to work in a busy medical office environment. Performance Requirements: (Required knowledge, skills and abilities.) ¨ Ability to perform medical assistant duties such as assisting the provider, performing EKG's and phlebotomy, vital signs and other office testing / procedures. ¨ Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with medical staff, patients and the public. ¨ Ability to follow direction and comply with office policies / procedures. ¨ Strong computer skills. Prior experience utilizing medical practice computer systems. Allscripts EMR experience preferred. ¨ Knowledge of medical terminology ¨ Working knowledge of insurance requirements Education: (Acceptable experience and training) ¨ High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants. Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants or at least 3 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced medical office highly preferred.
