Summary The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care that is guided by the American Nurses Association (ANA) scope of practice. A Registered Nurse collaborates with patients, family/significant others, peers, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the delivery of healthcare services to patients. Responsibilities Completes patient assessment and reassessment as clinically indicated: Documents detailed information incorporating the plan of care, interventions and outcomes reflecting the patients physical, mental, and emotional status. Ensures appropriate documentation based on the level of care the patient is receiving to include transfer/discharge documentation as indicated. Follows the five Rights of Medication Administration. Verbalize to patients/family/significant other the medication they are receiving. Assesses the patient prior to administering medications noting allergies, parameters, potential side effects, effectiveness and intervening as needed. Reassesses and documents response according to hospital policy. Coordinates and supervises the delivery of nursing care, including the delegation of tasks: Maintains accountability for care delegated. Initiate�s interventions related to the risk factors identified. Conducts bedside shift report and bedside rounds with peer on assigned patients at change of shift. SUMMARY Provides each of your assigned patients with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the patient's assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisor. Kneeling: Occasionally may occur while bathing patient. Crouching: Required when putting on shoes and socks of patients, and also when making eye-to-eye contact while talking if patient is in a wheelchair. Climbing: Not required. Balancing: Not required. May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, associates and visitors. OTHER CONSIDERATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS In this position, the associate is required to be on his or her feet continually throughout the day. In a full-time nonrestrictive basis, the associate must be able to lift at least 40 pounds of weight, which is required when transferring a patient from a bed to a wheelchair. A transfer belt is necessary and required when transferring any patient. This is for the safety of not only the patient, but also the aide. Other nurses are available to assist with heavier patients as needed.
