Surgical RN Position Summary The Surgical RN in Endoscopy p rovides nursing care for patients before, during, and after procedures. The care provided by this talented team helps diagnose disease, prevents cancer, and can assist or prevent surgical intervention. The Surgical RN in Endoscopy assists with many types of outpatient screening, therapeutic, and emergent procedures. Examples include: GI (upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, EUS, ERCP) and Pulmonary (bronchoscopy, EBUS, rigid bronchoscopy, pleuroscopy, pleurodesis). Advanced nursing procedures include esophageal motility and manometry, capsule endoscopy, peg placement. The Endoscopy unit has 3 procedure rooms, 5 preop bays and 6 recovery bays. They have great teamwork, participates in the Nurse Residency Program and Shared Governance. Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.
