As a free-standing surgical facility, the ASC provides surgical care to both pediatric and adult patients. The ASC supports the following services: Orthopedics (Sports), ENT/OHN, plastics, general laparoscopic, general oncology, peds urology, urology and dental. The ability to scrub is preferred, but not a requirement. It is preferred that candidates have either sports Ortho or ENT as one of their proficient areas. The schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday, 7am - 5:30pm (3 10-hour shifts/week). No call, no holidays, and no weekends. Summary: Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. Utilizing acquired knowledge of physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology, the PCCM APP exercises independent decision making in the assessment, diagnosis and development of the plan of care for patients on the PCCM service. In collaboration and consultation with the supervising physician, the PCCM APP contributes to excellence in patient care. As an advanced practice provider, the PCCM APP is additionally involved in education, consultation, research and leadership throughout the Duke Health System, organization and profession. Job Eligibility Requirements Education NP: Graduate of accredited MSN or DNP Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program. Initiates and/or leads minimally one Daily Path engagement program provided for residents as described in the resident’s Life Story, Solace program or calendar. Encourages residents to socialize and participate in planned, spontaneous, individual or small group person centered programs and to support friendships between residents. Maintains residents' records daily, in a timely manner, and in accordance with company policy and procedures. This includes documentation related to medication distribution as applicable, engagement interests, incidents and observations, reporting any changes in resident's physical condition and/or behavior, visitors, etc. Observes and reports the health and emotional condition of each resident and promptly reports all changes to the supervisor. Only if permitted by state specific regulations, may assist residents with medication as defined in medication procedure. Follows physician orders and state laws to administer medications to residents who cannot self-administer their medications. Exhibits understanding of and follows medication policies and procedures. Refer to state specific regulations regarding medication assistance. Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment for the residents. Performs general housekeeping, following cleaning schedules for resident laundry, bedrooms, dining area, living space, bathrooms, kitchen, etc. Follows proper procedures in emergency situations and responds promptly and positively to resident requests for assistance, including emergency pull cords, telephone calls, and requests from family and friends. Monitors the location of each resident and notifies the supervisor immediately if unable to locate a resident. Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers. Education and Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to six months related experience preferred and/or training in direct service with older adults living with dementia, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
