Job Description The Adult Infusion Centers at Mt. Zion and Mission Bay service the Medical Oncology population at UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center as well as any non-oncology infusion needs of patients at UCSF. The treatments include but are not limited to chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, blood transfusions, hydration and electrolyte therapy, injections and blood draws, enzymes and iron infusions, and antibiotics. The centers collectively consist of over 100 chairs/beds and treatments include research and standard of care infusions. The infusion centers are staffed by Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Medical Assistants, and Practice Coordinators. The Outpatient Infusion Clinical Nurse II delivers direct patient care to an assigned adult infusion outpatient population. This nurse is experienced and highly skilled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the cancer and non cancer disease process, the major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, and patient education. The nurse utilizes an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care with adherence to National Patient Safety Goals set forth by regulatory requirements. The Nurse Practitioner will serve as a frontline provider for Hematology, Oncology & BMT patients at Benioff Children’s Hospitals in San Francisco and Oakland providing care in 10-12-hour AM & PM shifts. Exceptions will be made to flex to outpatient when the operational need of the department dictates. The Nurse Practitioner will act as an independent member of the team, taking responsibility for the safe delivery of care for inpatient pediatric Hematology, Oncology & BMT patients.
