JOB TITLE : PACU RN PRN GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES : Assists in provision of nursing care to patients in an Ambulatory Surgical Center setting. Assumes total responsibility for patient care in accordance with physician's orders and centers policies. The center operates Monday through Friday with shifts starting as early as 0530, the closing shift stays until the last patient is discharged (on average 4pm, however can be longer depending on the patient acuity). We have two operating rooms and serve 8-9 patients per day, usually with only one surgeon. Seven Preop/ PACU bays are assigned to a patient for use in both phases of care, and the nursing staff adjust their assignments accordingly. The majority of patients receive spinal anesthesia in preop and during recovery require ambulation of 100 feet. Discharge teaching requires attention to detail as these are all outpatients. REQUIREMENTS : Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing; current Pennsylvania RN License. BLS & ACLS required.
