This role provides comprehensive patient care from admission through discharge, with a focus on perioperative management in the Cardiac Surgical ICU. The APP will manage ventilators, sedation, hemodynamics, and diagnostics, and coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams. Clinical expertise in managing complex conditions such as shock, sepsis, respiratory failure, heart and renal failure, arrhythmias, and post-operative cardiac patients is essential. Responsibilities may include advanced procedures such as central and arterial line placement, pulmonary artery catheter placement, and point-of-care ultrasound. Additionally, the APP may sit on committees and participate in Quality and Process Improvement Initiatives. This is a 24/7 service requiring rotation through days, nights, weekends, and holidays, with regional cross-coverage at other hospital sites. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of clients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies. Determines eligibility of patients for entry into clinical trials based on findings. Requests written consultation from physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate and quality patient care. Interprets and evaluates findings of studies/tests.
