How you make a difference The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in patient care by contributing to the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. How you make a difference The Nurse Practitioner (NP) under the supervision of the Site Medical Director and other site Physicians, offers a comprehensive range of medical services to incarcerated patients in accordance with established policy and state guidelines. They ensure necessary documentation of services is provided to the Site Medical Director or designee to monitor the provision of clinical services. Additionally, they communicate scheduling changes to the Medical Director and H.S.A. and make arrangements for coverage of medical services if unavailable for an extended period of time. Key Responsibilities Provides medical care to inmates, including conducting exams, chronic care clinics, and infirmary rounds. Maintains accurate and legible progress note documentation in SOAP format and adheres to formulary guidelines. Responds to emergencies and makes logical decisions regarding non-formulary drugs or off-site referrals. Supports existing policies and procedures for admission, transfer, and specialty consultant referrals. Maintains confidentiality and provides input into facility committees as requested. Qualifications & Requirements Education A graduate of an accredited school of nursing An advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Experience Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience and corrections experience is preferred. Must have the patience and tact to deal with the inmate patient population and ability to work effectively in the corrections environment. Scheduling flexibility is also required to be able to rotate hours and shifts, if needed, and to be called during emergency situations to provide coverage. Licenses/Certifications Must have and maintain current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner within the state of employment. Must have and maintain current CPR certification. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY To ensure in collaboration with the Nurse Manager that each neighborhood provide safe, appropriate and goal-directed care and to provide support and direct nursing staff. The RN Supervisor will be responsible for working an on-site schedule of a 3-4 days/week including weekends. Attends management meetings as required, this includes Operations Meetings and other Management Training as scheduled Rounds on Neighborhoods for the purpose of obtaining clinical information on residents, to support and educate staff, to assist with family issues and endorses complete information to next shift. Promotes 24 x7 accurate, objective clinical and administrative reports. Follow-up on status of residents transferred to other facilities and reports follow up to oncoming shift, Team Leader and physician Communicates effectively with Center Departments regarding resident/family needs on tour of duty and documents communication in a clear and concise manner. Qualifications Education Requirements: Graduate of an accredited RN program B.S. N. (required); M.S.N. preferred RN in the State of New York BCLS certificate PALS certification preferred Completion of courses mandated for continuation of RN license, (ex. Infection Control course; Child Abuse course.) Experience Minimum of two years pediatric experience. Minimum of three years experience in supervisory role. Overview About the Role The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse (Critical Care Transport) position is to provide and direct the critical care treatment and transport of patients in the hospital setting to the most appropriate facility. Provides pre-hospital Basic and Advanced Life Support (BLS, ALS) and hospital patient care. As a member of the patient care team, under the direction of a licensed Medical Control Physician (MCP) and under the supervision of the Chief Flight Nurse and EMS Coordinator, the Staff Nurse will treat patients of all ages and from all populations who experience serious illness or injury, using age and population appropriate equipment and techniques to safely assess, treat, lift, move and transport patients to an appropriate medical facility, while completing all required documentation and other assigned duties supporting efficient EMS operations and representing University Hospital and EMS in a positive and professional manner.
