Graduate Nurse Resident Waterbury Hospital provides new graduate nurses the opportunity to participate in a 12-month supportive paid Nurse Residency Program designed to facilitate newly licensed nurses’ successful transition into clinical practice by providing support, resources, and mentorship. This program is designed to provide new nurses with the tools to successfully navigate their professional nursing journey help them gain confidence and increase competence during their first year. Nurse Residents will be hired directly to a specialty area where they will receive focused 1:1 training with a nurse preceptor. In addition to clinical immersion on the unit, Nurse Residents meet in a classroom format throughout their first year to share experiences and participate in learning activities. Each resident will develop and implement an evidence-based teaching project over the course of the program. This role ensures that our hospice patients and their families receive compassionate, highquality care in accordance with our mission and regulatory standards. The Supervisor supports clinical staff (RNs, LPNs/LVNs, hospice aides, social workers, bereavement staff) in implementing interdisciplinary care plans, managing staffing and scheduling, monitoring quality and compliance, and fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Supervise, mentor, and support clinical staff across home care, assisted living, and skilled nursing facility settings. Ensure timely assessments, plan of care development, and interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings for hospice patients. Monitor and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations (including Medicare hospice benefit requirements, documentation, licensure) as well as internal policies and accreditation standards. Oversee staff scheduling, oncall rotation, visit coverage, and staffing models to maintain patient care continuity.
