Job Details: The Johns Hopkins Hospital- Bloomberg 12 has a 15-bed acute care inpatient psychiatry unit and a 12-slot psychiatric Day Hospital for voluntary patients aged 5-17. Most commonly seen diagnoses include mood disorders, anxiety, psychosis, bipolar and adjustment disorders. In addition to mental illness, patients may also have medical co-morbidities: asthma, diabetes, sickle cell, cancer, etc. You would care for patients with feeding tubes, IVs, and who need to be catheterized. You would provide crisis intervention, stabilization, and appropriation of after-care appointments. Under general supervision, provides direct patient care to assigned patients. Education: Associate degree from an accredited School of Nursing required. Licensures/Certifications: Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Registered Nurse. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Utilization of Nursing Process A. Assessment. 1. Compiles database and formulates nursing diagnosis. 2. Utilizes physical assessment and interviewing techniques. 3. Anticipates need for intervention by other disciplines. 4. Determines priorities for patient care needs or problems. 5. Reassesses the patient as indicated by changes in condition and/ or response to treatment(s) B. Planning. 1. Initiates and updates a written nursing plan of care for patients by incorporating scientific and psychosocial principles that support the nursing diagnosis. 2. Incorporates information obtained from nursing care planning conferences into written nursing plan of care. 3. Coordinates patient, family, significant other, and health team members in the planning of hospital and post-discharge care. C. Implementation. 1. Performs clinical nursing skills independently. 2. Administers medications, IV therapy and treatments appropriately and accurately. 3. Initiates appropriate emergency procedures as necessary. 4. Appropriately delegates and coordinates the duties of ancillary personnel. 5. Communicates the patient's status and plan of care through written documentation in the patient's medical record. 6. Verbally communicates the patient's status to physicians, nurses and other health care professionals. 7. Communicates in a therapeutic manner with the patient, family and visitors. 8. Applies teaching/learning principles in education of patient and family. D. Patient Care Coordination 1. Manages daily patient assignment by appropriately setting priorities. 2. Delegates responsibility appropriately and monitors the nursing care delivered to patients by ancillary personnel. 3. Coordinates patient activities with other disciplines. E. Teaching and Quality Improvement 1. Develops, documents and implements Patient Teaching and Discharge Planning Record. 2. Participates in established patient, family, staff and/or student education program. 3. Participates in clinical monitoring at the unit level. 4. Identifies unit, staff and patient care problems. Takes action or refers problems to appropriate resources when indicated. F. Nurse Residency Program (NRP) 1. Positive engagement and active participation in the NRP sessions 2. Job Requirements This role is considered the minimum role for all nurses at BWMC who have greater than (>) 12 months experience. This nurse will be competent in the skills/knowledge required and fully participate in unit governance. Independently provides and coordinates care provided to patients within a clinical specialty. Serves as a fully effective and participative member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team. Demonstrates and models the full range of nursing professional practice in both care provided and in participation in development of strategies to improve patient outcomes, satisfaction with service and cost effectiveness at the unit level. Strives to provide an environment where patients, families, and colleagues collaborate in the delivery of care. Is accountable to peers for the advancement of group practice on the unit, and to the nurse manager for the totality of work performance. Is accountable to hold the Service Standards of the Nursing Mission, Vision and Values. Work Experience An Associate Degree in Nursing is required; Bachelor of Science from a College of Nursing is preferred. Current Maryland RN licensure is required prior to beginning orientation. At least 1 year of RN experience is required. Professional Certification is highly encouraged. Employees hired on or after July 1, 2018 will be required to complete a Bachelor of Science from a College of Nursing within 5 years from the date of hire or transfer into a Clinical Nursing position. If there is gap in applied nursing experience of 5 years or more successful completion of a refresher course within past 6 months is required. American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required upon hire

As a CNA-I, you will play an essential role in providing high-quality, resident-centered care to individuals receiving skilled nursing, long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, and memory care services. Working under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, you will assist residents with activities of daily living while promoting dignity, independence, comfort, safety, and quality of life. Essential Responsibilities Provide compassionate, respectful, and resident-centered care while preserving each resident's dignity, privacy, rights, and independence. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, oral hygiene, and mobility. Assist with transfers, repositioning, ambulation, range-of-motion exercises, and restorative care activities in accordance with individualized care plans. Observe, document, and promptly report changes in residents' physical, mental, emotional, or behavioral condition to the licensed nurse. Measure and record vital signs, weights, intake and output, and other assigned clinical observations. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements. Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and comfortable environment for residents, visitors, and staff. Follow established infection prevention and control, workplace safety, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance procedures. Collaborate effectively with nurses, therapists, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to achieve exceptional resident outcomes. Maintain resident confidentiality and comply with all applicable federal, state, and facility policies, including HIPAA requirements. Perform other duties within the scope of CNA-I certification as assigned. Qualifications Active Maryland Certified Nursing Assistant I (CNA-I) certification in good standing with the Maryland Board of Nursing Assistant Registry. Former Maryland Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification satisfies this requirement. Current CPR certification preferred or required in accordance with facility policy. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Compassionate, dependable, professional, and committed to delivering outstanding resident care. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced interdisciplinary healthcare environment. Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, post-acute care, memory care, or hospital settings is preferred but not required.
