Essential Duties & Responsibilities: • Provide personal care, assistance, and supervision to students as needed • Assist with maintaining classroom supplies and ensure cleaning and care of medical and adaptive equipment • Support students' educational programs by assisting with positioning at computers, paper placement, and materials management • Utilize adaptive equipment to promote student independence and safety • Collaborate with parents and school nurses to develop and implement individualized health care plans • Provide emergency care and first aid in cases of injury or sudden illness, followed by appropriate referrals • Maintain accurate student health records and document all health-related activities and treatments • Complete accident reports and daily logs for classroom-based care • Assist school nurses in ensuring new students meet immunization and health screening requirements • Help organize, implement, and report on mandated health screenings within assigned classrooms • Monitor and recommend exclusion/readmission for students with communicable diseases • Maintain classroom medical supplies and equipment in accordance with safety standards • Collaborate with community health providers and state agencies to support students' needs • Serve as a health resource for students, parents, teachers, and administrators • Identify and report health and safety hazards within the classroom • Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and district policy • Perform other health-related duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Strong clinical knowledge in pediatric and community health nursing • Skilled in personal care and medical support within school environments • Ability to effectively respond to emergencies and provide first aid • Proficiency in documenting health services and maintaining accurate records • Familiarity with adaptive equipment and accommodations for students with disabilities • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to collaborate with families, teachers, and healthcare professionals • Sensitivity to and respect for diverse student backgrounds and health needs • Bilingual skills strongly preferred Qualifications & Requirements: • Graduate of a Practical Nursing Program approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing • Current Massachusetts license as a Practical Nurse • 1-3 years of experience in pediatrics, community health, or a related field • Proficient in English; bilingual applicants preferred • Current CPR and First Aid certification (preferred or must be obtained upon hire) Equal Opportunity Employer Lawrence Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive environment for employees and applicants.
