A Brief Overview This is for the Philadelphia Campus PACU. Full time, Rotating schedule, with two to three years pediatric experience or area of pre and post-operative experience preferred. The Peri-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) encompasses 46 private rooms, which include a procedure room and dental room. The PACU provides preoperative and postoperative care to all types of surgical patients and to those patients receiving general anesthesia in other departments in CHOP and at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. These services are provided 24/7 through in-house coverage or an on-call system. The Clinical Nurse practices at the level of an advanced beginner to expert practitioner of professional nursing in accordance with, and guided by the CHOP Nursing Professional Practice Model. The nurse at this level demonstrates competence in caring for patients and families and progresses to caring for those with the most complex problems/highest acuity in the designated clinical area. Provides age/developmentally appropriate care. Care is delivered through RN leadership for patient care within the framework of family-centered care. The Clinical Nurse adheres to the organizational and nursing department mission, vision, and values. Clinical Nurses practice in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics; the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice; practice standards of applicable specialty nursing organizations; and CHOP developed standards of nursing practice. Job Description The perioperative registered nurse (RN) is responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the operating room for all patient populations. This position is expected to maintain all state and federal licensure and clearances for PA, DE, and NJ for periodic rotation to the facilities in Delaware and New Jersey at the discretion of Perioperative Leadership.
