As delegated, the direct patient care tasks includes but are not limited to activities of daily living, vital signs, glucometry, EKG’s, weights and Intake/Output data collection. Indirect patient care activities include, but are not limited to, transport, restocking and/or obtaining patient care supplies. In addition, the C.N.A. is responsible for responding in a timely manner to the needs of patients and family members and taking a proactive role in the efficient operation of the unit. They function within policies, procedures and guidelines of Sturdy Memorial Hospital in accordance with Joint Commission, CDC and OSHA standards. Job Description Summary The Intensive Care Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team that provides comprehensive care to critically ill patients. This position will work under the clinical supervision of a physician Intensivist, within the guidelines of nursing process and Advanced Practice Provider protocols as outlined in Patient Care Guidelines for Advanced Practice Provider. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant performs physical assessments, collects and documents data, conducts approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, and provides direct patient care services in the ICU setting. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant contributes to excellence in patient care, teaching, consulting and provides leadership to the organization and nursing profession.
