Job Responsibility Manages and has 24/7 responsibility for the team members, operations and patient care activities of a patient care unit. Assists nursing leadership in setting strategic direction for key programs in alignment with organization mission, vision, and values and nursing strategic plan. Communicates, builds consensus, and guides team toward achieving department objectives. Promotes and maintains high quality patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Creates a professional work environment that fosters team member respect, engagement, accountability and optimal patient outcomes. Promotes appreciative inquiry and evidence-based, ethical and compassionate practice. Acquires and manages staffing for patient care unit. Collaborates with HR for requirements. Provides direction and guidance to patient care unit team members and supervisors. Facilitates performance reviews, promotions, pay and corrective actions. Serves as a role model for standards of professional practice (clinical, educational and leadership). Assists in career development planning for team members.
