We are seeking a Casual Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join a bustling pediatric rehabilitation medicine program. Our rehab department consists of over 150 physical therapists, occupational therapists , and speech-language pathologists, who work collaboratively with a pediatric physiatrist and physiatry nurse practitioner. Rehabilitation Services are provided at both our Minneapolis and St Paul Hospitals as well as six outpatient therapy clinics. Children’s Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine program brings together outpatient support for children with complex needs and dedicated inpatient consultative care to support the acute needs of hospitalized patients. Ambulatory clinics at Children’s MN include primary care clinics that are the longest running Health Care Home in Minnesota for children with complex chronic health care needs; spina bifida clinic; NICU follow up clinics; and post-fetal (in utero) clinical care. Hospitalization efforts support a focus on tertiary- and quaternary-care, including a large oncology program, two level 3 NICUs, a pediatric CVICU and heart transplant program, two PICUs, level 1 pediatric surgery verification care, and pediatric level 1 trauma. Position Description: This individual will be responsible for managing complex patient care and ensuring the delivery of rehabilitation expertise to patients, families and other health care providers. This includes the evaluation of patients, in pediatric populations, with complex rehabilitation needs through outpatient and inpatient care. The Rehab APP will perform tasks independently and in collaboration with the rehabilitation care team. License/Certification: Current Minnesota RN license or eligible Current Minnesota APRN license or eligible. Our training shifts are variable including days, mid-shift, evenings, and weekends. Following training, we work remotely. The work from home location is required to be within driving distance from Midway Corporate Campus in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Schedule: This opening is 0.6 FTE (48 hours per two weeks) on our EVENING shift with an every other weekend rotation. ( Weekday shifts: 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm, Every Weekend: 12:30 pm - 9:00 pm) As RN Advisors, we independently triage calls from patients inquiring about their symptoms, medication refills, test results, and information regarding our facilities. We handle approximately 6 calls per hour with calls lasting 6-9 minutes in duration. We are advocates, assisting callers through the health care system. Responsibilities include: Accountable for quality assessment; efficient management of care and client happiness. Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in triaging callers properly such that all callers receive a timely and appropriate response. Focus on callers, maintain a professional demeanor, and continuously implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction. Collect information regarding concerns, medical history and description of symptoms via the telephone using the nursing process. Use symptom-based protocols to systematically assess, address needs and provide education. Prioritize calls based on patients needs.
