We provide care to critically ill adult patients that have had surgery or trauma which require close observation and monitoring and interventions. We are looking for someone who will perform advanced monitoring using current technology, manage complex medication and infusion therapies, care for patient undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit, and they will demonstrate the ability to safely and accurately operate unit equipment. They should be able to assess, diagnose, implement, and evaluate treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological stability of the surgical patient. They may also serve as a circulator or scrub during operative procedures. Implements protective measures prior to operative or invasive procedure, including measures to prevent skin or tissue injury due to thermal, mechanical, electrical and chemical sources. Confirms identity before the operative or invasive procedure and verifies operative procedure, surgical site and laterality. Applies safety devices, performs required counts, manages specimen handling and disposition. Demonstrates knowledge about the psychologic, sociologic, and spiritual responses of patients and their families to the operative or other invasive procedure. Applies principles of aseptic technique while establishing and maintaining sterile fields. Performs skin preparations, monitors for wound contamination, and classifies the surgical wound. Ensures perioperative environmental sanitation. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. Job Overview Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our ICU - Cardiovascular Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. We care for patients who have had coronary artery bypass, valve replacement and transcatheter aortic valve replacement, aortic arch repair and heart and lung transplant. The CVICU also handles patients with decompensated heart failure, adult congenital heart defects, cardiogenic shock, advanced pulmonary hypertension and cardiac arrest. We apply extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), ventricular assist devices (VAD), intraortic balloon pumps (IABP) and Swan-Ganz catheters routinely. Our complex patient population requires hemodynamic monitoring, critical medication management, management of organ failure, maintenance of systemic perfusion and high technical skills. This unit has a low nurse to patient ratio and resource nurses on unit. Schedule: This position will be working 0.60 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). Job Overview Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our ICU - Cardiovascular Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. We care for patients who have had coronary artery bypass, valve replacement and transcatheter aortic valve replacement, aortic arch repair and heart and lung transplant. The CVICU also handles patients with decompensated heart failure, adult congenital heart defects, cardiogenic shock, advanced pulmonary hypertension and cardiac arrest. We apply extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), ventricular assist devices (VAD), intraortic balloon pumps (IABP) and Swan-Ganz catheters routinely. Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility or health care organization policies and procedures to include the patient’s cardiovascular system, respiratory system and airway management needs, neurological system, hemodynamic stability, pain and comfort needs, and mental status. Interpret information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors. Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes. As a Registered Nurse in our Oncology unit, you would help adult patients and oncologic malignancies. Our services include hematologic malignancy, gynecological oncology, solid organ tumor oncology, colorectal, plastic surgery, and gender affirmation surgery. Nurses are responsible for providing chemotherapy, radiation, and end-of-life care. We deliver complex medication and infusion therapies, blood administration and care for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic surgeries, procedures, and interventions on the unit. You would use the nursing process to provide for the physical, emotional, and educational needs of adult patients undergoing hematological, oncological, and surgical therapy.
