Assess patients for risk of harm to self or others using evidence-based tools, including the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) and PHQ-9. Evaluate and address nutritional concerns, pain, sleep, and other medical or psychiatric needs that may affect recovery. Utilize both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches to pain management while considering the risks of dependency, addiction, misuse, and abuse. Apply ASAM criteria and Medical Needs Criteria when evaluating level of care, treatment needs, and ongoing placement. Collaborate effectively with nursing, therapists, counselors, medical providers, and facility leadership as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team. Review and interpret laboratory and diagnostic results and incorporate findings into the patient's treatment plan. Provide appropriate follow-up care and medication management throughout the patient's treatment episode. Complete accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in the electronic health record. Ensure documentation complies with ARS policies, state and federal regulations, and applicable Joint Commission standards. Must have a DEA to prescribe controlled medications and have had training on Buprenorphine Prescribing as outlined by the DEA in the state(s) working. DEA-authorized prescribers will be required to demonstrate that they have completed at least eight (8) hours of educational training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders. Depending on the state practicing, may need a protocol agreement to be completed by the NP and Medical Director. Depending on the state, the DEA may not be able to be obtained until the protocol has been approved by the local nursing board. This is the only exception to not having a DEA at hire. Interfaces with patients using monitoring and instrumentation equipment, and directs and educates others in performing these functions. 7. Formulates and implements a treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the attending physician(s) and documents in medical records and appropriate narrative summaries. 8. Assesses patients for changes in status and institutes appropriate interventions, including initiation of necessary emergency interventions to stabilize the patient. 9. Incorporates clinical research findings in the development and implementation of standards of care. 10.
