Performs direct patient care as needed and functions as clinical resource to nursing and support staff. Assesses, plans, evaluates and documents the nursing process of assigned unit as needed. Job Summary: Practice autonomously to assess and recognize patients who would benefit from a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC or Mid Line), particularly early in their treatment plan. Assess patients for appropriate PICC/Mid Line placement; perform insertion, care, maintenance, education, and quality improvement initiatives while instilling evidence based care. Educate nurses and medical staff on benefits of peripherally inserted central lines and promote utilization. Assesses patient and family learning needs and provides teaching to patients and families regarding care and maintenance of PICCs/Mid Lines and other IV therapy as indicated. 7. Works interdisciplinary to arrange and implement outpatient services such as outpatient PICC/Mid Line insertions, dressing changes, lab draws, de-clotting, IV infusions, and other IV therapy needs. 8. Serves as resource person for accessing and de-access port-a-caths and central lines. Assists staff with difficult peripheral IV insertions. 9. Completes documentation accurately and in timely manner, according to hospital policies and procedures. Works with Revenue Systems and IS to assure proper patient charges and documentation. 10. Enters data for record keeping of PICC/Mid Line insertions and line maintenance. Maintains and evaluates performance improvement indicators. 11. Assures policies and procedures related to vascular access and IV therapy are appropriate and updated as needed, monitors staff for compliance, and provides education accordingly. 12. Engages in activities to expand and/or enhance the professional nursing grole, which includes the integration of research and evidence based practice. Maintains and improves own knowledge level and competency related to vascular access with seminars, webinars, magazines, and books. 13. Provides leadership and autonomy in the professional practice setting and the profession. 14. Facilitates routine meetings or correspondence with other PICC/Mid Line nurses and provides education and updates. LOUIS, MO 63108 Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary WashU Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a compassionate and skilled RN Clinical Nurse Coordinator to join its Maternal-Fetal Medicine team. The RN Clinical Nurse Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting patients with high-risk pregnancies within a fast-paced Maternal-Fetal Medicine outpatient practice. Working collaboratively alongside a team of six nurses and a panel of over 14 providers, the coordinator provides comprehensive clinical care, care coordination, and administrative support across multiple practice locations for a specialized patient population requiring advanced maternal care. Schedule: Monday–Friday | Regular Clinic Hours • No Nights • No Weekends • No Holidays Setting: Primary focus on outpatient clinic care, with occasional work-from-home opportunities as operational needs allow. Location: Outpatient clinic locations including Center for Outpatient Health, Missouri Baptist, Progress West, and Shiloh, Illinois. A typical day includes conducting nurse-led Non-Stress Test (NST) monitoring in a high-volume setting, performing specialized clinical blood draws, managing complex high-risk pregnancy care plans, and facilitating care coordination with referring providers. The RN Clinical Nurse Coordinator will gain extensive experience in advanced maternal care while serving as a primary point of contact for patients through MyChart and telephone interactions to guide them throughout their high-risk pregnancy journey. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Provides direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients; completes health history and physical examination on patients; conveys findings to physician. Coordinates patient care, orders diagnostic tests, conveys findings to physician, attends inpatient rounds, coordinates patient appointments and assists with referrals to outside sources. Assists physician and provides support with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care. Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties, including compliance with environmental safety regulations, infection control standards and quality assurance. Acts as liaison and team leader by facilitating communication and coordination of care between patients, families and health team members; explains routines and procedures to patients and coordinates patient care information to appropriate sources.
