Additional Information About the Role This unit provides the opportunity to care for acute and intermediate conditions, titrate high risk drips, heart failure management (including post-heart transplant), and care for patients requiring continuous telemetry. Our high acuity patient volume allows for low nurse-patient ratios promoting the safety and satisfaction of our patients, families, and staff . In addition, our interdisciplinary team provides patients with the very latest evidence-based practice and most advanced technology. The Staff Nurse (RN) must be certified in BLS and obtain ACLS certification within 1 year of working on the division. Performs direct patient care as needed and functions as clinical resource to nursing and support staff. Assesses, plans, evaluates and documents the nursing process of assigned unit as needed. Responsibilities Facilitates identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization, at discharge, and into the ambulatory care setting. Critically assess patient data to proactively mitigate impending changes in condition and establishes consults to interprofessional team as appropriate. Leads the development and implementation of complex individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Responsible for communicating with patients, assessing and evaluating their needs and advising the patients of the recommended actions/course of treatment as directed by the Physician. Knowledge of the principles and skills needed for nursing, care, examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of medications and their effects, patient education, principles to develop a self-care program, instruments and common safety practices. Licensure: Current valid state license.
