Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters. Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served. Candidates may be considered for placement into either the Surgical Technologist or Advanced Surgical Technologist role based on years of experience, specialty training, and meeting the qualifications of the higher-level position. The Advanced Surgical Technologist expands on this foundation by supporting complex procedures, such as Cardiothoracic, Transplant, Neurosurgery, and Vascular and by contributing to protocol development, specialty instrumentation management, and workflow optimization for advanced surgical service lines. Required to provide coverage to other surgical services based on practice needs and competency outside of their primary service. *Qualified applicants must live within a reasonable driving distance to campus to meet 45-minute on-call requirement Qualifications Graduation from an accredited or military surgical technology program. Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required within one year of hire date and maintained thereafter. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. Surgical Technologists hired at the following location prior to the identified dates, are not required to have a Surgical Technology certification through NBSTSA: • Mayo Clinic in Florida hired prior to 11/20/2024 Additional Experience and/or Qualifications: • ENT/Pain experience preferred.
