Qualifications EDUCATION Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred. All newly hired registered nurses must have current BCLS certification or must obtain within one month of hire. EXPERIENCE Registered Nurse is the foundational job description for all RNs. All RNs are encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical advancement program. LICENSURE Licensed and a currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut. Clinical specialty certification highly encouraged. SPECIAL SKILLS Registered Nurse is the foundational job description for all RNs. Standing/walking for more than half of the day. Frequently bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting and lifting. Description Responsible for the care activities and goal achievements of assigned patients by assessing, diagnosing, planning and intervening in actual or potential health problems and evaluating patient's response to care. Responsible health teaching and discharge planning Acts as a member of a designated care team and collaborates, coordinates and guides team members in planning patient care activities. Demonstrates behaviors, which reflect the scientific knowledge, judgment and teaching skills of a professional nurse Responsibilities Roles & Responsibilities: Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent, quality care based on nursing theory and research to patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Provide professional nursing care to critical patients, including IV Therapy, phlebotomy, medication administration and documentation. Utilize the nursing process in all aspects of care delivery. Ability to interpret and treat arrhythmias per ACLS protocol, intervene in cardiac arrest, pain management and management of complications of diseases and surgical procedures. Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and central line management essentials. Nursing assessment based on interview, examination, observation and review of records of the patient. Develops a goal oriented care plan based on the nursing assessment, with participation of patient and significant others. Nursing actions are consistent with the care plan and medical regimen and hospital procedures Demonstrates a competent level of technical skill which reflect the scientific knowledge, judgment and technical skills of professional nursing. Assists in development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of care and professional practice in collaboration with members of the health care team and in accordance with institutional policies and regulatory agency requirements.
