The Waterford Care Center is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join their team! The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) helps patients/residents with comprehensive and personalized health care needs under the supervision of a nurse. The CNA assists patients/residents with activities of daily living to include bathing, dressing, eating, grooming, toileting and exercising. At this facility, this position is collectively bargained under the union. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Director of Nursing or CNA Supervisor, the CNAs work closely with the nursing staff to ensure coordination of patient care. Provides physical support for patients/resident’s daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, grooming, transferring to/from bed, toileting, walking, standing, or exercising. Assists patients with daily medication and supplements. Ensures proper resident/patient diet based on their dietary restrictions. Examines patients for open wounds, bruises, or blood in urine. Notes and communicates patient/resident behavior and changes in mood. Cleans rooms and bed linens. Checks and records vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Answers to patient calls and needs. All other duties, as assigned. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Qualifications and Skills: Good collaboration and teamwork skills with the nursing staff. Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for a number of medical conditions. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED. State Certified Nursing Assistant License/Certification. Must be CPR Certified. Complete required assessments upon the customer’s admission, transfer, and/or discharge. Receive telephone orders from physicians and record on the Physicians’ Order Form and P.O.S. Record new/changed diet orders. Forward information to the Dietary Department. Perform routine charting duties as required and in accordance with our established Charting and Documentation Policies and Procedures. Responsible for completion of admission, discharge, and transfer processes. Prepare and administer medications and treatments if appropriate as ordered by the physician. Review medication record for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of the physician’s order, and adherence to stop order policies. Administer professional services such as: catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy, and drainage bags, care of the dead/dying, etc., as required. Participate in the orientation of new customers/family members to the facility. Arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services, as ordered by the physician. Notify the customer’s attending physician and family when there is a change in the customer’s conditions. Obtain sputum, urine and other lab tests as ordered. Take and record TPR’s, blood pressures, accuchecks, etc., as necessary. Contact the customer’s physician for: Nursing assessment of change of condition. Medication orders or charges. To inform of incidents. To report abnormal results of Lab and X-ray. Anything else pertinent to the customers’ care and well-being. Ensure the nurses’ notes and monthly summaries reflect the care plan and is being followed. Attend staff meetings, etc., as directed.
