Job Description Responsible for working with other healthcare professionals to support various procedures. Monitors patients, administers medications, EMR , consults with healthcare providers, educates patients. Job Function: 01. Clinical Skills and Assessment. Demonstrates knowledge of the conditions/diagnoses, procedures, and equipment encountered in the Endoscopy unit, including cardiovascular and pulmonary. Consistently maintains SGNA standards of practice. Has competent knowledge of all the normal stages of growth and development and delivers care appropriately. Assesses patient understanding of procedure and actively includes the patient and family members in teaching. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and skill in the recognition and management of emergency situations. Job Function: 02. Documentation. Maintains complete and accurate documentation. Assumes primary responsibility for documenting components of the nursing process and patients progress toward meeting outcomes in the patient's chart including patient education. Maintains accurate documentation of any changes in the patient's status and of any interventions taken. Provides complete charting of patient's procedure and charge documentation to help ensure accurate billing. Completes post case data sheet completely and legibly. Job Function: 03. Educational Requirements and Mentoring. Fulfills mandatory education obligations. Maintains BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures and is able to identify areas for clinical and professional growth. Attends pertinent educational offerings and staff meetings to keep abreast of changes within the unit and hospital. Actively pursues professional growth and development by taking the initiative to obtain information on new equipment and technology. Assists in the orientation and education of new staff members as to proper use of equipment and department policies and procedures. Acts as a role model for other team members. Job Function: 04. Patient Satisfaction. Consistently responds to patients/families in a professional, courteous, positive manner. Maintains an open line of communication with patients and their families to expedite delays or concerns. Notifies the charge nurse about unresolved problems needing resolution. Consistently follows the National Patient Safety Goals. Exhibits knowledge of Universal Protocols and applies these protocols to nursing practice. Helps to maintain all equipment and recognizes and reports any malfunctions or potential problems to the supervisor. Job Function: 06. Collaboration. Acts as a patient advocate and assures that a patients’ rights are respected, identifies the needs of the patient/family on admission and communicates them to the physician, social worker and/or case manager. Identifies and reports all risk management issues in a timely manner. Required QUALIFICATIONS Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse. BLS certification. Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
