Summary The Vascular Access Nurse expertly provides and coordinates IV therapy and care for a group of patients that includes assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. The Vascular Access Nurse serves as a role model for other clinical nursing staff and collaborates with the Interventional Radiology Team. Other Information Required Job Qualifications: Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure Baccalaureate degree in nursing. Minimum two years previous PICC experience. Knowledge of current IV therapies and access devices. Skills Analytical and critical thinking ability. Excellent IV, PICC, Central Line, Midline insertion skills. Demonstrate proficiency in the insertion of PIV with the use of ultrasound guidance. Communication skill is required in order to lead, teach, and motivate others. Interact effectively with others in difficult situations. Current BLS certification. BLS certification must remain current throughout employment. Vascular Access Board Certified, VA-BC required and/or Certified Registered Nurse Infusionist, CRNI. Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter, PICC certificate.
