RESPONSIBILITIES: Residents Provides or assists with bed bath, tub bath, whirlpool and showers. (Supervises safety of same.) Answers call bells as soon as possible. Makes rounds frequently. Reports need for repair and safety matters to charge nurse. To Ascertain Vital Signs Follows procedure in taking TPR correctly. Adheres to the proper procedure for cleaning thermometers/IVAC. Rehabilitation Assists in ambulation, transfers, ROM exercises and good body alignment where indicated. Uses adaptive devices properly. Cooperates with all rehab disciplines. Keeps accountability sheets up to date with signatures as required. Testing of Urine and Collecting of Specimens Has knowledge of proper procedure. Records results. Informs nurse of results. Assignments Receives daily report from nurse. Consults assignment for special duties and sets proper priorities for following through on assignment. Is familiar with and takes proper action in meeting physical needs of resident. Routinely checks and keeps in order all residents' belongings: i.e. clothing, glasses, hearing aid, prosthesis aid, adaptive devices, etc. Ensures that residents on turning schedule is positioned every two hours or as ordered, and documented. Ensures that residents on toileting schedule are assisted as needed, and documented. Resident is kept clean and dry. Gives assistance to co-workers when needed. Uses good handwashing techniques. Ark Healthcare and Rehabilitation at St. Camillus, a 124 bed skilled nursing facility is seeking a 7-3 Registered Nurse Supervisor, Monday through Friday Experience: Long Term Care, 1 year (preferred) License: RN License (Required) for the State of Connecticut Responsible for the overall operation and quality of care for the residents on the assigned unit. Must be able to follow all health, sanitary and infection control policies and maintain established standards of practice set forth by the facility's administration and the Nursing Policies and Procedures. Qualifications: Ability to read, write and comprehend English; the ability to follow oral and written instructions. Interest in the nursing needs of aged and the chronically ill with the ability to work with both. Ability to work with facility staff in the performance of duties. Ability to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position/assignment. Minimum one year of education or experience in geriatric nursing or rehabilitation preferred.
