Your Role on the Team Position Summary Incumbent functions independently to provide direct and indirect patient care based on the nursing process for the Chao Comprehensive Cancer Center. Functions as the primary contact for oncology patients. Provides education as needed to the patients/family related to cancer care, diagnostic procedures, medication/chemotherapy and other complex aspects of the plan of care. Incorporates the psycho-motor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Supports the faculty in clinic for every patient care session. The Wellness Visit Medical Assistant (WVMA), under the supervision of a licensed practitioner, supports the first phase of a two-part Medicare Annual Wellness Visit (AWV). Following successful onsite training and competency validation, the position transitions to a primarily remote role conducting the initial visit via telehealth.
