Complete and communicate regulatory documents, develop data and monitoring plans, report Serious Adverse Events as they occur, and complete FDA and sponsor forms. Serve as a liaison between investigators, research personnel, outside study personnel, and central research administration offices to assist in protocol interpretation, enrollment, and safety questions. Assess research subjects, complete nursing assessments, document findings in research subject records, and notify the physician of abnormal findings. Establish a care plan in collaboration with the research subject, family, and research team, and coordinate ongoing care. Identify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning as appropriate. Perform telephone triage, nursing procedures, and treatments. Evaluate, initiate, and maintain standards of care consistent with CCHS policies and procedures. Assist with specialized patient care equipment as required by the clinical research protocol. Administer medications and treatments as ordered by a physician or licensed independent provider (LIP). Direct, coordinate, and participate in the evaluation and supervision of nursing care provided to research subjects, establishing patient care priorities and delegating nursing activities according to patient needs and staff capabilities. Participate in education, research and performance improvement activities. Develop and maintain knowledge of research protocol to coordinate the comprehensive and compliant execution of assigned protocols. Assist with preparation for audits and response to audits. Maintain professional relationships, including frequent and open effective communication with internal and external constituents. Assist with the development of training and educational material for assigned research protocols. Provide and document education as needed. Conduct and document the informed consent process. Trauma & Surgical ICU Nocturnist Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Position Overview: The Trauma & Surgical ICU Nocturnist Advanced Practice Provider (APP) delivers advanced, evidence-based care to critically ill and injured patients during consistent night shifts at The MetroHealth System’s Level I Adult Trauma Center. Working collaboratively with Trauma/Critical Care attending physicians, surgical residents, nursing, and other members of the multidisciplinary team, the APP provides overnight management of critically ill surgical patients, responds to changes in clinical condition, performs bedside procedures, and supports the ongoing care of patients within the Trauma and Surgical Intensive Care Unit. This position is designed for an APP interested in a dedicated nocturnist role and requires strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, procedural, communication, and decision-making skills. The APP should have a thorough understanding of trauma and surgical critical care, including the assessment, diagnosis, stabilization, and management of acute and critically ill patients. Key Responsibilities Provide overnight management of critically ill patients in the Trauma and Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Collaborate with Trauma/Critical Care attending physicians, surgical residents, APPs, nursing, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized plans of care. Evaluate new and evolving clinical concerns and respond to acute changes in patient condition throughout the night. Collect and interpret clinical data, including laboratory results, imaging, hemodynamic information, and other diagnostic studies, to develop and document assessments and treatment plans.
